Monty’s Sunday Market – open Waitangi weekend

Enjoy Waitangi weekend and prowl the stalls for bargains, fossick in a relaxed atmosphere teeming with treasures, recycled goods, pre-loved clothing, antiques, collectables, books, household items and speciality stalls or simply sit and watch the world go by while enjoying brunch or a freshly made coffee or tea.  Monty’s is in the Montgomery Square and open between 8am – 1pm on Sundays.

Weekend Flowers

Many Nelsonians visit the market each weekend with shopping basket in hand gathering fresh produce from juicy pears and figs, to enormous punnets of fresh strawberries and raspberries in season. Once the produce has been carefully selected it is on to the flower sellers to choose a bouquet or two of blooms to brighten your dining or bedside table. Fresh each weekend and always blooming  at the Nelson Market .

The Nelson Market regional fundraising push for Christchurch finishes this Saturday 23 April. Vouchers donated by Market Stall holders and other Nelson businesses are available to the public until Easter and represent a wide range of goods and services.

Donors give $6000 to Japan

A fundraiser for Japan at the Saturday Market raised more than $6000, far exceeding the expectations of the Nelson Japanese Society members who ran it.

Association president Yuki Uda said the group hoped to raise $1000-$2000. Instead they got $6311.70, plus $30 in Australian currency, $20 in US money, and 6000 yen.

Purple Sticker Market Day

It’s a Purple Sticker Market on Saturday at the Nelson Market. The helium balloons mark the fundraising stall where you can donate to the Christchurch and Haiti appeals and stall holders with purple stickers are pledging their support too. Show your support! Nelsonians dig deep for rattled neighbours

Nelson rallied at the weekend to raise thousands of dollars to help our Canterbury neighbours, including about $15,000 at a special appeal at Saturday night’s Opera in the Park.

Red Cross member Bob Askew organised a bucket collection for the earthquake appeal. He said there was “so much money it has not all been counted”, but he estimated the final tally at $15,000.

Soundstage Classes

SOUNDSTAGE is offering free classes to Christchurch families currently staying in Nelson. We wish to offer our support to children and young people who are in need of some fun and inspiration while staying in our town.

Purple Sticker Market Day

To help Canterbury after the earthquake, we have set up a Nelson Market fundraising stall in front of the food table area at the end of the restrooms facing Rebel Sport. You will notice red and black helium balloons donated by The Party Shop, and tablecloth, flags and banners donated from Nelson artist Linda Richards.

We advise our valued customers that for the Market before Christmas of Saturday 18 December we will be operating extended hours – from 8am – 3pm instead of our usual 1pm closing time. Summer Santa will be in attendance!!

Monty’s Sunday Market, Montgomery Square will open as usual 8am to 1pm Sun 19 Dec but closed on Boxing Day.  Trading New Year’s Day 8am – 1pm.

Summer Santa

Santa is to launch a new summer look at this Saturday’s Nelson Market.  Santa has had enough of sweltering in Greenland garb in the New Zealand summer. This year, he is discarding his red thermal suit and sweaty boots and declaring his summer santa status at this Saturday’s Nelson Market. Market Director Nita Knight says you can expect to see a sun smart Santa, with a cool new look.
