Nelson Market proudly supports registered local charities and invites applications to be featured on its prized front page.
“Communities rise or fall on our ability to support each other”, says Nelson Market, owner Nita Knight. Never has this been more apparent than in 2020 with this unprecedented pandemic.
As a mission-driven business, supporting local charities is one of the ways we pay it forward. Many will remember our Pearly Queen who was a regular at the market collecting for charity. Building on this legacy we are now pleased to offer 11 local charities the opportunity to each be featured for one month. This will be through a promotional banner on our website, at no cost.
To apply please email Nelson Market at [email protected]
Note: Only registered charities may be selected.
WILD FOR YOU
Welcome to Natureland Wildlife Trust our inaugural feature not-for-profit-charity.
Natureland has been chosen for its amazing work in maintaining care for their animals throughout the lockdown on a skeleton staff. They are fully open for business and what better way to get some fresh air than to take a wander around the animals. You will see new baby Damara lambs, seven new Tuatara hatchlings, and two baby Pygmy Marmosets.
The crew on deck throughout lock down, kept Nelsonians informed on Facebook with animal antics videos and updates. Keeper and Educator, Toni Gordon described some changes in behaviour of the alpacas, sheep and goats, in particular.
“Some of the animals used to getting fed and petted frequently, seemed quite bereft of attention during that earlier time.
Though we did let them out with special roaming privileges during lockdown it’s the friendly faces of visitors that they really wanted to see.
With spring here, we hope people will come and visit Natureland. Many who haven’t been back for years will be greatly surprised by all the development.
It’s a fantastic oasis where you can interact with our animals up-close, learn about conservation, feel good and get some fresh air. ”
