Linen – a vegan option –

Linen is renowned for its superior properties and is again coming to the forefront for its natural health benefits and general well being as well as its ecological and long lasting qualities.

The flax plant takes around 100 days from planting to maturity, when the flowers bloom it is  a spectacle that people celebrate and enjoy.

Unlike cotton, the entire plant is used including the roots, which are as deep as the plant is tall.

Travelling Lite
How Travelling Lite Came Alive

“Judy has always believed that textile and garment production need not exploit the environment but could work in harmony with nature.
Her products reflect nature, authenticity and care. She wants her customers to be able to wear and use her products knowing the environmental foot print is light.”   Rebecca Patchett, Fashion Revolution

After nearly 20 years of teaching art, design and technology in schools I decided to begin a new chapter, enjoy being at home and start a business where I could immerse myself in making instead of facilitating. The business is called Travelling Lite, accessories that don’t cost the earth.

I am very pleased to have a stall at the Saturday Nelson Market in New Zealand, and enjoy designing and making products at home during the week.

I ustilise linen, silk and wool to make travelling accessories and dye them with plants from our garden and food forest and a couple of favorite trees in the local area.

Waste linen is turned into paper and artworks.

Please explore my work, enjoy and contact me for any assistance. Judy.
