Printed Feathers – Silk Scarf
100% silk scarf with a hand-printed batik design
The scarf is made with 2 layers of medium weight Habotai silk. Size: 22 x 150 cm.
I also make these scarves in many different colours to order.
It is sewn so there are no visible edges, which gives the scarf a neat finish.
The batik pattern is a resist technique using cold-water wax, and silver fabric paint, in which each feather is printed onto the silk
The wax is then fixed into the fabric, before the scarves are individually hand-painted with non-toxic dyes
Salt is then sprinkled onto the fabric, which draws moisture to itself, to leave behind a pattern of dye.
Once dried, the scarf is steam-fixed to create strong, vibrant, and permanent colours.
Care: Hand-wash using wool wash in lukewarm water, rinse in a small amount of fabric softener, (optional). Spin in washing machine, or hang to dry.
Iron using a silk/wool setting.
