!00% silk scarf with a hand-painted, NZ  batik design.

Ships From: New Zealand

Sold By : Unique Threads SKU: 1 Categories: , Tags: , , , ,

The scarf is made with medium weight Habotai silk.  Hand-sewn, rolled hemmed edges.

Size:  20 x 135 cm

The batik pattern is a resist technique using cold-water wax which is drawn on with a small brush.

The wax is then fixed into the fabric before the scarves are individually hand-painted using non-toxic dyes.

Salt is then sprinkled onto the fabric, which draws moisture to itself and creates an interesting background pattern.

Once dried, the fabric is steam-fixed which makes the colours strong, vibrant, and permanent.

Care:  Hand wash using wool wash in warm water, rinse in a small amount of fabric softener (optional).

Spin in a washing machine, or air dry.  Iron using a silk/wool setting.
