NZ Harakeke Silk Scarf
$65.00
100% silk scarf with a hand-painted batik design
Description
The scarf is made with 2 layers of medium weight Habotai silk. Size: 22 x 150 cm
It is sewn so there are no visible edges, which gives the scarf a neat finish.
The batik pattern is a resist technique using cold-water wax which is drawn on with a pipette.
The wax is then fixed into the fabric, before the dyes are individually hand-painted with non-toxic dyes
Salt is then sprinkled onto the fabric, which draws moisture to itself, to leave behind a pattern of dye.
Once dried, the scarf is steam-fixed to create strong, vibrant, and permanent colours.
Care: Hand-wash using wool wash in lukewarm water, rinse in a small amount of fabric softener, (optional). Spin in washing machine, or hang to dry.
Iron using a silk/wool setting.
