About Us
In 2019, I worked at Kibera Hamlets Primary School in the heart of Kibera, the largest slum in Kenya’s capital city, Nairobi. Hamlets provides education for 40 of the most vulnerable children in Kibera. It receives no money from government.
When I returned to Wellington, I combined my interest in African fabrics with fundraising for Kibera Hamlets using Kitenge fabrics to make aprons, bags, hats, masks and placements. My team of sewers donate their time so that 100% of the proceeds goes to the school.
Children can’t study without eating. With porridge for breakfast and ugali and cabbage for lunch, rice for a special treat, Hamlets is up and running.
Our aim is to Feed Forty Kids. Friends of Kibera Hamlets School is a registered charity in New Zealand. CC59388
