Description
Our Beech Honeydew has a big personality capturing the essence of its wild origins.
Use Beech Honeydew to add a flavour kick to muesli, cereal and smoothies, or transform your morning toast into something divine. This honey holds its own in the kitchen, providing the perfect complement for strong flavours, such as pears, apples and blue cheese.
Research suggests that Honeydew Honey has high levels of antioxidants, along with strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Studies also suggest Honeydew contains high levels of Oligosaccharides, a powerful prebiotic that supports and promotes beneficial gut bacteria.
Beech Honeydew’s strong aromas are reminiscent of our lakeside bush areas, with earthy hints of berries and caramel.
Foraged from deep in the beech forests of the South Island’s Buller region

Mountain Valley Honey (MVH) was founded many years ago in the foothills of the Mt Arthur Range. Nelson-based couple Murray and Nicky Elwood were already producing honey but wanted to expand the vision of their business, whilst the previous owner of MVH was looking at retirement.
Both businesses were a perfect fit. Murray and Nicky took over MVH in 2007, and have since developed the brand to incorporate all they love about bees and honey.
During that time, our hive numbers have grown a little, and the areas we travel to tend to our hives have expanded.
Working in remote locations means we are away from pesticides and the “busy-ness” of towns, allowing plenty of natural foraging for the bees.
We work in the beautiful mountains, deep valleys, and stunning seaside sounds of the top of the South Island of New Zealand – and we get to work alongside the incredible people who live in those areas. We are in awe of the beauty that is “our office.”
Our hives are cared for by our fantastic, tight-knit team. They are great people who are fun to work with, good at what they do, and very much appreciated.
Being able to harvest, extract, pack and distribute means we are hands on with our product all the way through, enabling us to deliver the best we can to the customer.
