“Sacrebleu: Where French Pastry Becomes Magic!”

Hello dessert enthusiasts and fellow sweet tooths!  We hope this article finds you in the midst of a delightful sugar high or, at the very least, daydreaming about your next indulgent treat.

We’ve got some exciting news to share – we’ve recently connected with the creative duo at Sacrebleu, and let’s just say, our taste buds are doing a happy dance!

Firstly, a massive “thank you” is in order.   Sacrebleu is thrilled to be part of The Nelson Market,  and we (along with their growing coterie of fans),  were recently over the moon to savour their delectable delights.
It’s like music to our ears, or rather, like the perfect mouth-feel experience of biting into the caramelized exterior meets soft, gooey interior, of their extraordinary Cannelés,  but more on those in a moment.

Now, let’s dive into the whimsical world of Sacrebleu with some fun facts that’ll make your taste buds tingle with anticipation:

1. Sacrebleu: More Than Just a Culinary Exclamation.   Ever found yourself at a loss for words when something is so delicious it’s almost unbelievable? That’s the feeling Sacrebleu captures with its name! “Sacrebleu” is a fun French expression, loosely translated to “damn!” – because, let’s face it, when you taste their pastries, you might find yourself uttering a few exclamations of joy.

2. The Dynamic Duo Behind the Magic.   Meet the masterminds behind Sacrebleu: Hélène Kösem from the enchanting land of France and Simon Thomsen hailing from the picturesque New Zealand.   Hélène, a former trained actress and theater director in Paris and London, has seamlessly transitioned into the role of a pastry chef.  Talk about a multi-talented powerhouse!   Simon, on the other hand, brings his Kiwi charm and practicality to the mix, making this duo a force to be reckoned with in the world of French pastry.

3. Hélène Kösem: Actress Turned Pastry Chef Extraordinaire.  Before donning the pastry chef hat, Hélène dazzled on the stage and worked behind the scenes for Disneyland productions. Now, she’s bringing that same theatrical flair to the world of French pastries. Imagine a Broadway-worthy performance, but instead of a curtain call, you get a sweet and savory encore with every bite.

4. Time-Honored French Pastry with a Modern Twist.  Sacrebleu is on a mission to preserve the essence of time-honored French pastry traditions. Each creation is a nod to the rich culinary heritage of France, with a sprinkle of modern innovation. It’s like a delicious time machine, transporting your taste buds to the charming streets of Paris with every mouthful.

5. The Star of the Show: Cannelé Drumroll, please!   The pièce de résistance in Sacrebleu’s lineup is none other than the “Cannelé.” Straight from the heart of the south-western French city of Bordeaux, this small but mighty cake is a culinary masterpiece. Picture this: a homemade spiced rum and vanilla-infused delight, lovingly baked in a traditional copper mold to achieve a perfect caramelized exterior encapsulating a soft and heavenly interior. It’s like a flavor explosion in every bite – a party in your mouth, if you will.

6. From Nelson Markets to Your Doorstep.  Currently making waves at The Nelson Market,  Sacrebleu is gearing up to spread its pastry magic far and wide and will soon be available online. That means, no matter where you are, you can savor the taste of France without leaving the comfort of your home.

In conclusion, Sacrebleu is not just a bakery; it’s an experience.
It’s a delightful journey through the whimsical world of French pastries, where every bite tells a story.   After all, life is too short to resist the temptation of a perfectly crafted Cannelé!
Look for them at The Nelson Market this week.
